“Linda is so encouraging and makes her ideas and tips completely understandable, simple and effectively.

Her demonstrations are quick but really make the point.”

“Thank  you Linda for such an inspiring and useful course. Despite the weather

I feel i’ve had every opportunity to develop my watercolour painting further,

with your advice which is always so absolutely spot-on.

Technically, you’ve introduced me to new techniques and approaches-

particularly water and tree trunks- which will be with me always!”

“Linda is great, whatever your ‘style’ she will encourage you to develop it further. She is a warm, caring person and helps you do your best and beyond, in a supportive way.

I was very pleased with the paintings that I produced during the course…..

The FSC centre at Malham is a comfortable and friendly place to stay, with easy access to the lovely local areas to paint and sketch.

I was apprehensive when I booked because Linda’s style and colour palette is very unique.

However,-I’ve not become ‘another Linda’-but simply a much more confident watercolour painter/’artist’. Thank you very much.”

“I have just completed a week’s ‘Watercolour in the Landscape’ course led by Linda Hollingshead.  And what a landscape Malham has to offer – tarns, crags with twisted trees, picturesque villages and lush dales and fast running streams.

I am an amateur painter and over a period of four years have attended various classes. None have I found as encouraging and inspiring as this.

Linda did not run ‘Paint-as-I-do’ course, but offered an opportunity for individual participants to develop and enhance his of her own style. On the first night we each gave a summary of what we would like to achieve and Linda incorporated all these points over the week in with her own programme.

Linda did not merely paint and explain whilst we watched. I can illustrate this. One evening she demonstrated how to enhance the focal point of a picture and achieve the effect of light. It was amazing! However, we were not then just left to it, but given practical and clear steps to follow in order to achieve this in our own work. I was so impressed with the interest she took in each one of us, remembering our individual needs and helping us to progress on a one-to-one basis as well as in a whole group.

I liked the way Linda was genuinely delighted with our work – whatever level we considered ourselves to be. She would analyse a painting, home in on the strong points and have loads of suggestions how to progress. This made me feel good about my work and encouraged me to be adventurous.

From beginning to end, Linda created a non-threatening, and friendly atmosphere in the room. She was always very professional in her approach, yet full of fun and very caring and supportive towards everyone in the group. We laughed a lot!

It was great and I’m going to book again for next year. Many thanks, Linda!”
